Best Wedding Venues in Northern Virginia: Part 2

April 29, 2019

I’m back, as promised, to highlight more of the hidden venue gems in Northern Virginia.  In part two of my Best Wedding Venues in Northern, VA series, you’ll find a selection of venues that will accommodate the various visions couples may have for their dream wedding.  Do you envision an intimate ceremony at a winery?  What about a rustic, yet elegant vow exchange in a barn?  Or maybe you dream of an over-the-top black tie affair hosted in a conference center or hotel’s grand ballroom. Whatever your desire, Northern Virginia has got you covered.  If you are a wedding planner reading this, I strongly encourage you to add these venues to your list of site visits and share with your current or future clients.

Let’s Get To It!

This full service wedding venue AND bed and breakfast overlooks the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. It’s absolutely perfect for couples seeking seclusion, rest and relaxation as the vibe for their wedding experience.  The original farm house was built in 1830 and since then, new rooms/sections, and other amenities have been added.

On my visit at The Manor at Airmont I especially enjoyed the great manor/house that gives you a casual, yet elegant vibe. It’s been newly renovated and styled by Natalia, owner and amazing interior designer. This joint family venture combines over 30 years of experience in the hospitality, culinary, and event industry. The venue offers indoor and outdoor spaces to choose from based on your vision and guest count, which includes the Front Lawn, Wedding Platform, Great Room, and Conservatory.

Great food on your wedding day is an important detail in creating the ultimate wedding experience (something I'm sure your guest will love you for).  The menu at The Manor at Airmont will NOT disappoint.  The in-house catering team’s food is delicious and inspired by the chef’s Korean and Southern heritage. They often host fun holiday events for St. Patrick's Day, Easter, and other special holidays.

Another great aspect of this venue is that they offer two main wedding package options; the custom (basic) and curated (upgraded) packages. They also offer wedding week of coordinator AND full planning services, which is a total perk!  Check out their website for more details on the all of the services and amenities the venue offers.

The River View at Occoquan is a multi-million dollar event space that is the newest addition to NOVA Parks and overlooks the Occoquan River.   This venue features floor to ceiling windows for one of the walls, beautiful hardwood floors, and modern metal accents throughout. It’s a blank canvas that looks beautiful on its own OR can be transformed with lighting, draping and extravagant florals.

Depending on their desired look and feel of the ceremony, couples can choose from three different spaces for ceremony setup. The patio or greenery outdoor options are popular among many couples.   The venue provides a beautiful arbor that can be accentuated with amazing florals. I love that the owners of The River View focus on conservation and the environment.  Their mission is evident in how they’ve managed to keep certain elements of history on the property. For instance, the 1608 Room highlights some details of environmental history, while the Scale House Cottage (commonly referred to as the gentlemen’s quarters) features pieces of the original brick throughout.  Great Blue Heron Catering is the in-house caterer that provides full-service experience for the venue.

One of the best perks of booking the River View at Occoquan is that couples get to use the entire Occoquan Regional Park for pictures.  What a photographer's DREAM!

Harbour View

Harbour View is a beautiful venue off the Occoquan River that is known for its various ceremony and reception spaces, which includes open-air verandas and four indoor spaces from which couple can choose.  The venue can accommodate large parties of up to 320 guests.  I love this as an option for multicultural weddings.

A huge selling point is that the open-air veranda gives you an indoor/outdoor feel because it has a picture perfect view of the marina/water backdrop (makes for capturing a killer sunset behind you and your honey), while still providing you and your guest protection from the glaring sun and even rain with it's ceiling and three surrounding walls.

The staff here is amazing and super attentive to every client's needs! You’ll love working with Rachael, Katelyn, Holly, Andrea, and Lisa (owner).  They’ll take good care of you.

I love the venue so much that I even used it as the location for my personal headshots!

I really hope that the wedding venues highlighted here and in my previous post are now on your list of places to visit.  Trust me when I say the images of these venues simply don't do them enough justice.  You must physically visit them to really get catch the full vibe.  Please feel free to leave me a comment if you are able to visit any of the venue locations I've shared. I'd love to hear your personal thoughts about them.
