For the Love of Fall Weddings

November 5, 2017

This fall, weddings are as colorful as the autumn leaves and refreshing as people take advantage of warmer than usual weather for outdoor and evening celebrations. Although we’re still seeing traditional palettes with rusts, golds, maroons and cream, other jewel tones are bringing a bright and fresh take on the deeper tones we usually see this season. Muted Pantones that have typically been used to tone down brighter spring and summer colors are now being paired with the deep, rich fall colors.

Attire

Brides are continuing to be the center of attention (as they should be LOL) with their show-stopping gowns featuring diamonds, lace, and peek-a-book panels that give the illusion of skin, much like the fabulous gown Keyshia Ka’oir wore for her televised wedding.

Bridesmaids’ gowns are still traditional as far as cut and length, but muted dusk hues to deep teals and rust reds are a welcomed change from pumpkin-tones.

Dreamcatcher loves traditional fitted lace bridal gowns with plunging neck lines. We also love soft navy bridesmaids gowns that deviate from obvious burnt oranges.

Decor

Late afternoon weddings are showcasing beautiful string lighting, fresh greenery, and candlelit tablescapes. Some are even opting for bare wooden tables only dressed with traditional place settings and autumn hued cloth napkins.

Dreamcatcher loves couples that integrate their own flavor of fall with the traditional autumn favorites like burlap, mason jars, and lanterns. It gives such a country, relaxed and romantic feel. There’s a certain warmth to it. Replacing floral centerpieces with glass vases filled with fall fruit (apples and oranges), cones, and dried flowers/leaves is perfect for evening fall weddings.

Flowers

According to Floret, locally-grown, traditional flowers will be reemerging this Fall. Dahlias, mums, and zinnias are favorites. Peaches and cream themes and muddy, muted hues also flowed into bouquets and decor.

Stationery

Invitations are becoming a bit more creative than using simple mason jar graphics and string lights. Brides are now choosing dark colored (navy, black, plum) envelopes with white, gold, or metallic digital calligraphy.

Die cut and embossed shapes of maple leaves are also dressing up the more casual wedding suite. Custom wax seals are also becoming more and more popular.

Iconic wreaths and monograms top everything from save the dates to escort cards. They’re even making their way to the dance floors as gobos and floor decals. Fans of more ornate stationery have favored gold-lined envelopes and satin midori ribbons, where more casual brides have opted for jute or burlap tied suites.

Dreamcatcher loves creating lasercut invitations that resemble detailed lace wedding dresses. Another favorite is deep colored silk dupioni folios that close with breathtaking brooches.
