Ok, am I the only one who feels 365 days went by way too fast?
I must say 2018 was an amazing year for me in business. I invested in so many opportunities to learn and grow by attending a number of educational and networking events. Dreamcatcher Stationery was even part of an amazing team of vendors who pulled together a fabulous styled shoot here in Virginia, as well as a guest appearance at royal wedding inspired tea.
This blog post is dedicated to some of my favorite events of the year! Keep reading to learn all about these moments.
Soliloquy Barbara K Flagship Event
On April 18, 2018, Soliloquy Bridal Couture in Herndon, VA hosted the Barbara Kavchock Trunk Show in celebration of becoming the flagship store that carries the amazing dress collection. The festivities included a runway fashion show that showcased samples of beautiful dresses for the 2018 wedding season. Other industry partners and future brides attended the event and enjoyed the elegant music and light h'orderves.
Dreamcatcher Stationery was honored to provide the welcome signage for the event. And we even got the opportunity to collab with one of our favorite vendors, Beats by PG, my husband. He deejayed the event and kept the smooth jams coming.

The Royal Tea Party
Washington DC’s top event planners, Kawania Wooten of Howerton + Wooten Events, Tara Melvin of Perfect Planning Events, and Shelby Tuck-Horton of Exquisite Expressions and Events curated a royal tea party on May 17, 2018. Theses ladies lead a group of talented wedding and event professionals to pull off a celebration for one of the biggest events of the year -- the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Guests wore their finest tea party attire including over the top Kentucky Derby church hats, fasteners, gloves, and floral dresses.
Dreamcatcher Stationery was happy to not only attend the event, but contribute by providing the seating chart, sponsor signage, menu cards, and custom monogram logo. Some of the highlights include the circular floral backdrop, the abstract cake, and the over the top floral tablescape on the grand estate table.

Virginia Inspired Styled Shoot
Another favorite moment of 2018 was participating in a styled shoot with other amazing wedding professionals. Our theme focused on the adornment of Virginia, with a color palette that incorporated red, white, and blue. What better way to truly capture the essence of the Old Dominion State than to feature the state's flower: the flowering dogwood. The backdrop of this shoot was the historical home of Virginia's 48th Governor surrounded by the greenery of Morven Park.
*Insert bragging moment* This shoot was picked up and published by The Hill City Bride! Read more about the details of this country-chic shoot here.

The Art of Stationery Conference
The Art of Stationery Conference was held on October 18-20, 2018 in Atlanta, GA., hosted by Sandi Spells and Ken McNealy. This educational experience was created specially for stationers who are looking to up level their business. About 50 creatives from all over came together to learn from the top stationers. We soaked up all of the knowledge we could during presentations from the talented Ndidi (Oda Creative, LLC), Dami (Parchment by Dami), and Ola (Ijorere, Inc.). There was also an eye-opening presentation by a certified CPA who taught us the foundations of business finances...cash flow management, balancing sheets, etc. Whether you are a seasoned business owner or new to this entrepreneur game, you can never learn to much about managing your business finances.
In addition to the business jewels that were dropped during each presentation, we received hands on experience through workshops. The highlight was the fabulous invitation box we created and were able to leave with. I established so many meaningful relationships with other stationery sistas because we all have similar goals.
